The Impact of RBD on People with Parkinson’s Disease and Their Partners

New research shows that REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) takes a toll not only on people with Parkinson’s disease but also on their partners.

From vivid dreams and nighttime movements to anxiety, fatigue, and relationship strain, RBD lowers quality of life for both. Couples cope through medical treatment, lifestyle changes, and open communication, but many still lack information and support.

This study highlights the urgent need to better recognize RBD, involve partners in care, and provide holistic strategies to improve life for everyone affected.
